Welcome to Sign of Silence Hostel. We are a guest house with a dorm and two double rooms. We are also a Job Creation and Training Centre (JCTC) for the Deaf. All profits of the Hostel will go to the JCTC foundation, to support the Deaf.
More than 200.000 people in Ghana are deaf. Deafness and hearing impairment are serious disabilities that can impose a heavy social and economic burden on individuals and their families. Hearing parents often consider a Deaf child to be a curse and a burden. This causes them to not value the Deaf child.
At the Job creation and Training Centre for the Deaf we want to give Deaf trainees a chance te be independent. They are trained to be a caterer, hard- and software repairer, carpenter hairdresser and a seamstress. With your stay at our hostel, you will get a chance to meet the deaf, learn sign language and support them.
